DAN STEINHILBER

Dan Steinhilber graduated from the University of Manitoba, School of Music in 2001 with an integrated degree in Music and Education and taught concert bands and jazz bands at John W. Gunn Middle School until 2007, when he moved to Transcona Collegiate to teach concert bands, jazz bands and choirs. He founded the East Side Jazz Band in 2007 and has served as faculty for the Manitoba Band Association Summer Jazz Camp, the NorMan Jazz Festival and the Manitoba Band Association’s Jazz 101 Workshop. He completed a Post-Baccalaureate Diploma in Jazz Performance (trumpet) at the University of Manitoba in 2018, studying with Derrick Gardner.  Dan loves working with young people, especially in developing their confidence and skill in the area of improvisation. He also enjoys serving in the music ministry at his church and travelling with his wife and two children.
