Intent

springfieldcollegi

With this piece I hope to give the students an experience in the compositional process. I aim to realize some of their ideas. I hope to realize a musical representation of the process of change: the knowing of a thing, the feeling of a thing and the changing of a thing. I want to pay homage to those who tried to do the same, musically, capture their essence while making sure my own voice is present. I want to do my best to make my teachers proud - to have their lessons extended through the music that I write in this piece. I want to say a lot in these four minutes without trying to overcompensate - this will be very difficult for me - perhaps the greatest obstacle that I will need to overcome in this endeavour. Lastly (for now), I want to write to the ensemble, that is, to their abilities and level of musical development. It should be challenging, but not an overreach.
