Recordings for 2021

On October 22, 2020, public health orders came down requiring Band students across the province to shelve their wind instruments and find other ways to fulfil their music education. The students of SCI gathered to discuss possibilities - what could their learning look like? Was there a way to keep the music going? Each ensemble chose their own path. Some classes were drumming on buckets, others morphed into percussion ensembles. Others formed rock bands or guitar groups while the Wind Ensemble chose to become Springfield Collegiate's very first String Orchestra. Through it all the students kept the music making process intact in the face of quite difficult circumstances. There were moments in rehearsal, in the middle of a song, where we would look up at each other and smile and truly be in the moment - feeling like the world was the "normal" that we could remember from not so long ago.
